Police seized 4 million euro worth of illegal drugs
A 20 year old suspect from Leipzig was detained because of illicit drug trafficking on 26 February 2015. His apartment was searched. Furthermore a 51 year old Bulgarian courier was detained. The investigating judge issued an arrest warrant the following day. Both the suspects have been in custody since then.
320kg of drugs in total were found while searching, in particular including crystal, cocaine, amphetamine (speed), ecstasy-tablets, LSD, hashish and marihuana. Moreover CID officers secured several packing and portioning items as well as 48.000 euro cash.
For the time being these results are the culmination of comprehensive police and public prosecution investigations that started in March 2014 and have not been completed. At that time the police headquarters in Leipzig received first hints of an online platform acting obviously outside the Leipzig metropolitan region offering and selling narcotic drugs.
Due to conspiratorial methods investigators succeeded in detecting the operator of the online platform âShiny flakesâ, the way of purchasing, offering, paying and distributing the drugs.
In addition several drug shipments were seized during the investigations and there were found about 40kg of different drugs. Taking the selling price of the online platform as a basis there is a total value of all the drugs (approx 360kg) confiscated of more than 4 million euro.
The public prosecution service in Leipzig applied for more search warrants. All the 38 search warrants were confirmed by a judge and enforced on 11 March throughout Germany. In this context five more people were arrested, some kilos of drugs and several thousands of euro cash seized.
